About the event:

The School of Media & Communication Studies SMCS-UMT, Lahore to host 3 Day International Conference under the title “Two Centuries of Urdu Journalism; A journey of opportunities & Challenges on 23-25 November 2022, which will cover practically all aspects of the field.

The Bicentennial Celebrations' Goals - To unearth and bring to light misplaced, lost, concealed, preserved, and little-known text, facts, and personalities involved with Urdu Journalism. We wish to make the 200th anniversary of Urdu Journalism unforgettable by organizing a conference to celebrate and promote Urdu Journalism among its fans and to introduce Urdu Journalism as a future goal for future generations. We hope to fulfil our dream collectively.

It was in March 1822 when the first Urdu Language Newspaper Jam-e-Jahan-Numa, was founded by Munshi Sadasukh and Hari Dutt Kolkata. In 2022, now we have completed 200 years of Urdu Journalism. We intend to bring all the Urdu Journalism Promoters, National & international researchers, Media professionals and Academia to one platform. We as a Department tried to keep the legacy and grace of Urdu Journalism moving.
