MPhil Media and Communication

Overview Road Map

The School offers two types of programs:

  • MPhil Program (2 years Research track)
  • MPhil Program (2 years Professional track)

This program is completed into two parts, course work, and Thesis/Project.
Course work is spread over a period of two semesters carrying a weight of 30 credit hours. After successfully completing the course work, the student will work on their Thesis/Project carrying a weight of 6 Credit Hours.

MPhil Program (2 years Research track)

MPhil Research Program is for those students who have a keen interest in expanding their knowledge base in the field of media and communication through research in depth to understand the underlying processes and their effects on all fields of life in a social, cultural, economic and political context. It is designed to equip the scholars with the knowledge of the statistical tools used for the purpose of data collection, analysis, and interpretation in Research.

Admission Requirements:

  • MA/MSc/BS or equivalent in relevant discipline
  • Minimum 50% marks in annual system or 2.5 CGPA in semester system in previous degree
  • No third division in entire academic career
  • GAT General 50%/ UMT Entry Test
  • Subject-based UMT Entry Test and Interview

MPhil Program (2 years Professional track)

MPhil Professional program offers an opportunity to study media production and performance, media analysis, media business, and entrepreneurship and emergent media in the context of rapidly converging industries. The course outline tries to explain study program in the historical, cultural and theoretical context within which audio, video; film, digital media and popular culture are produced and throw light on the environment in which it is experienced.  

Admission Requirements:

MA/MSc/BS or equivalent in relevant discipline

Minimum 50% marks in annual system or 2.5 CGPA in semester system in the previous degree 
No third division in an entire academic career
GAT General 50%/ UMT Entry Test
Subject-based UMT Entry Test and Interview
